Teen Health Research Wins $60,000 in North Carolina Grant Funding

ParentTech startup Teen Health Research, Inc. recently received $60,000 in grant funding from the One North Carolina Small Business Program.

The One NC Small Business Program is administered by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) to fund small businesses based in North Carolina who are developing innovative new technologies that are high-risk and capital intensive.

One NC funds can support North Carolina small businesses as they pursue SBIR and STTR funding from the federal government, while it also provides grants to companies to match previously awarded federal SBIR and STTR grants.

Teen Health Research received over $340,000 in non-dilutive grant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) STTR program in September 2023 to fund development of its platform to modernize how parents and teens communicate about sexual health.

This $60,000 in additional grant funding will also be used by the company to support development of its software platform.

Teen Health Research, Inc. is a women-owned startup company working to help teens and families develop the communication skills they need for happier, healthier relationships. Launched in 2021 based on research from North Carolina State University, the company is developing a digital platform to help parents and teens overcome their fears of talking about sex.
